The Banty Rooster
SOUTHWESTERN CUISINE
LANDS IN THE WEST VILLAGE
I had the opportunity to work with Delores on her lifelong dream — to open a restaurant in New York City, grounded in her values that every human deserves dignity and respect, and to treat her staff as well as she treats her guests.

The Rooster
I knew the rooster needed a strong spirit and personality to match the founder’s tenacity and gumption. I reached out to Pat Vale, Brooklyn artist and illustrator, to collaborate on the logo. I didn’t want it to be anthropomorphic or too perfect, so it could stand out from other rooster logos in the restaurant industry. We went with a combination of pen and ink, and kept the sketch-like quality. We explored several shapes, sizes, and expressions, and came up with this one — we knew it had the right spirit.
The Banty’s Arrival
For a dynamic and memorable introduction, we created a time-lapse video of Pat drawing the logo to announce the opening. We used it for the landing page of the website and for social media.
Brand Elements
We created an alphabet of Pat’s handwriting and underlines, and used it for signage, menu headers, and printed collateral. We also used a second pose of the rooster, feathers, and hatch chili peppers for secondary elements.
The Menu
A feather, the secondary mark, is debossed on deep navy menu folders. Simple type accompanies handwritten headers, which reference Delores and Johnny’s commitment to the perfect playlist.
